Terms of Service
Last updated 8 July 2026
These terms govern your use of canto.fm. They're written to be read; if anything is unclear, write to hello@canto.fm and we'll explain it plainly.
Who we are
Canto.fm is operated by CANTO FM LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17178992 ("Canto", "we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@canto.fm.
The service
Canto.fm streams works of literature staged as spatial audio drama. Sample cantos are free to listen to without an account. Listening to full series requires an account. The service is provided as-is and evolves continuously; features may be added, changed, or withdrawn.
Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for activity under your account. Give us accurate information and keep it current. You can delete your account at any time from the account page, which permanently removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Free and paid listening
Listening on canto.fm is currently free. We may introduce paid subscriptions or purchases in future; if we do, the terms of payment, renewal, and cancellation will be stated clearly at the point of purchase before you pay anything.
Your licence to listen
We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable licence to stream the audio on canto.fm through the surfaces we provide. The audio recordings, mixes, and artwork are © Canto, all rights reserved. The underlying texts we stage are in the public domain. Transcripts are published under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 licence.
The licence does not permit recording, downloading (except features we explicitly provide), redistributing, publicly performing, or re-hosting the audio, nor circumventing any technical measure that controls access to it.
Acceptable use
Don't interfere with the service, probe or breach its security, scrape audio, or use another person's account without permission. Automated access to the public publishing surfaces (series pages, transcripts, RSS) is welcome within reason; automated access that degrades the service for others is not.
The newsletter
If you leave us your email address, we'll write to you about new series and Canto news. Every email includes a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate.
Ending things
You can stop using canto.fm, or delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms; where reasonable we'll warn you first.
Disclaimers and liability
Canto.fm is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the service evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. If a change is significant we'll say so on the site or by email. Continuing to use canto.fm after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you're a consumer, you keep any protections and rights of the country you live in.
